Come and celebrate Chicagoland’s diverse cultures with joyous music and dancing, delicious food and drink, fascinating stories, and charming arts & crafts from around the globe.

This event is FREE! Thank you to the Lansing Public Library for not only sponsoring this event, but providing a full day of international games and activities for children.

Fun for children:

Your children will explore a different continent every hour, creating a craft and playing games to gain a better understanding of other children and their cultures.

Come embark on global adventures with the Lansing Public Library; they will located near/under the Fox Pointe pavilion:

  • North America, 12:15-1:15 p.m.:
    • Play Gallito (Puerto Rico), Mar y Tierra (Mexico) and Pebble Patterns (Native American);
    • Create a Papel Picado.
  • South America, 1:30-2:30 p.m.:
    • Play El Caracol (Argentina), Trompo (Ecuador) and Peteca (Brazil);
    • Create Maracas.
  • Africa, 2:45-3:45 p.m.:
    • Play Dara (Nigeria), Frog Friendship (Zambia);
    • Create Kente Cloth Weaving (Ghana).
  • Europe, 4-5 p.m.:
    • Play Shadow (Ireland), La Barbichette (France) and Chenille-assis (Austria);
    • Create a Firebird (Ukraine).
  • Asia, 5:15-6:15 p.m.:
    • Play Kongki Noli (Korea), Tinikling (Philippines), Catch the Dragon Tail (China);
    • Create Chinese Lanterns and Origami.
  • Oceania, 6:30-7:30 p.m.:
    • Play Bushman Challenge (Australia) and Elastics (New Zealand);
    • Create Matariki.
