Lansing’s Fox Pointe will host México en el Corazón, NAIMA’s (North American Institute for Mexican Advancement) cultural initiative, for spectators to experience music, dance, costumes and songs of Mexican folklore with live mariachi, folkloric ballet and banda music.
The free cultural performance will dazzle attendees from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, at the venue, located at 18138 Henry St. Gates open at 10 a.m., and attendees should bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. No outside food and beverages will be allowed.
The performance will feature a new show with the official Guadalajara Folkloric Ballet, the Mariachi Juvenil Ocotlan, and the band Colores that will present the music, dances, and colors of Jalisco, Chiapas, Zacatecas, Nuevo Leon, and Aguascalientes through mariachi, norteño, marimba, and band performances.
This is the group’s fifth annual appearance in Lansing, as they tour the United States from coast to coast. Last year, México en el Corazón, performed at TF South High School.
